Our goal
We want everyone to be able to find great pizza and join OG Pizza Night, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, zoom, voice control or other assistive technology. Our goal is for whowantspizza.com to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA.
What we do
- We test every page with automated checkers (axe and Lighthouse) and by hand, using only a keyboard and a screen reader, before changes go live.
- Every page has one main heading, labeled buttons and form fields, and text descriptions for photos that carry meaning.
- Buttons and links on phones are at least 44 pixels tall, and text meets color contrast rules.
- Pages work when you zoom in, and animations stop if your device is set to reduce motion.
- Pizza Bestie works by typing as well as talking. Everything it says out loud also appears as text, and you can turn its voice off.
- The Share panel shows the link as text next to the QR code.
Known limits
- Maps and directions open Google Maps, Apple Maps or Waze. Those are other companies' apps, with their own accessibility.
- Talk (voice input) needs a browser that supports speech recognition. It doesn't work in Firefox. You can always type instead.
- Pizza places from OpenStreetMap show names and addresses as they are listed there, and haven't been checked by us.
- The Coal Atlas maps still open on our old site, thepizzaog.com, and haven't been fully tested yet. We're moving them to this site.
Tell us about a barrier
If something on Who Wants Pizza? is hard to use, please email [email protected]. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and the device or assistive technology you use, if you like. We reply by email within 1 business day, and if we can't fix it right away, we'll help you another way, like sending you the information by email.
